A successful litigator for 29 years, Bob has written books on securities and business law. He teaches business law.

Bob listens to both sides. He understands business. He is fair and prompt.

         Mediation

Bob McGaughey has served as a mediator in over 100 disputes for over 20 years for organizations such as the Oregon Appellate Program and the American Arbitration Association.

Bob has mediated disputes involving business dissolutions, insurance, employment, personal injury, real estate and contracts.

Before becoming an attorney, Bob worked as a social worker.

Bob understands both the complexity of business transactions and the merits and risks of litigation. He has extensive experience representing businesses getting started, writing contracts, raising funds through securities offerings, in mergers and other major changes.

Bob has litigated countless business disputes and knows the costs and risks of litigation.

         Mediation Philosophy

Bob believes that litigation is expensive; this is a fact. Litigation is expensive in time, in money and in emotion. During a dispute, the business suffers. Employees become uncomfortable as they are asked to choose up sides. Customers, supplies and lenders become squeamish.

Conflict is a lose-lose proposition for everyone.

But by choosing to mediate, parties can put a stop to the disruption and expense of litigation. Everyone can get back to being business people. The emotional drain of conflict can come to an end.

Bob knows the importance of listening to all views. He has extensive knowledge of business and investments to help business people find cost-saving, innovative solutions.

Over his career, Bob has mediated more than 100 disputes. He wants to help find a less costly solution.

Bob is available for private mediations.
