Robert J. McGaughey

Arbitrator/Mediator

 

Bob McGaughey is an experienced arbitrator and mediator with more than 40 years of litigation and business transactional experience.

Bob has served as an arbitrator and/or mediator in over 200 disputes both privately and through the Oregon Court of Appeals Mediation Program, the American Arbitration Association, the National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc., the Multnomah County Circuit Court Arbitration Program, the Oregon State Bar Fee Arbitration Program and the National Futures Association.

Bob specializes in arbitrating and mediating business disputes—particularly disputes between business owners. But over the years, he has arbitrated and/or mediated a wide range of disputes including personal injury, breach of contract, securities, real estate and disputes between attorneys and their law firms.

Bob was the 2021 recipient of the Castles Leadership Award, established in 1998 to recognize an Oregon lawyer for excellence in the practice of business law, professionalism among fellow business lawyers and outstanding community leadership. It is the highest recognition that the OSB Business Law Section can bestow on one of its members.

Bob previously taught business law at Bassist College, Linfield College and at multiple CLE classes.

Bob is the author of Oregon Corporate Law Handbook and Oregon Securities Law Handbook, as well as numerous articles on business law issues.

Before becoming an attorney, Bob worked as a social worker.

Bob is currently Of Counsel at Chenoweth Law Group.
